If you share a link on LinkedIn (and choose to make it visible to anyone), your picture could appear on LinkedIn Today.
LinkedIn decides which articles get shown on LinkedIn Today by looking at the links that LinkedIn members share, like and comment on the most. Based on the industry assigned to profiles of those who've shared, LinkedIn sort the links by industry and news source. LinkedIn also say that they give a higher preference to recent articles if they're being shared quickly by a broad base of members.
So what? Through LinkedIn Today, you have the opportunity for your expertise and photo to be seen by other professionals within your industry. This inevitably enhances the perception of your expertise and credibility and could potentially open doors for you.
In effect, by subscribing to LinkedIn Today, you are also reading the same news that others in your industry are reading. Take the opportunity to share and comment on stories where you can add something valuable. And every time you do that, you, your name and your photo get seen on the LinkedIn home page time line. How valuable is that?!
Quick Tip: Add a LinkedIn share button to your own website so that people can share your content direct to their network on LinkedIn. This could also mean your content being included in LinkedIn Today. Get the button here: http://developer.linkedin.com/publishers
